DERMACON 2009 LOGO

Bangalore, fondly and officially known as Bengaluru, is also known by its many
epithets: IT city, Silicon Valley of east, Biotech city, Knowledge city, Garden
city, Pensioner's paradise. As the city evolves and grows from a cosy, idyllic
town built by its founder Kempegowda to a bustling, busy, modern megapolis,
skyscrapers, malls, Metro and the new International airport have radically
altered the city's horizon. The Logo reflects these different attributes and
also represents the prefect blend and harmony between the modern day Bangalore
and the traditional Bengaluru. The cosmopolitan, rapidly changing megacity
Bangalore is indicated by skyscrapers, the new International airport and the
Metro; the famed IT industry is indicated by the computer accessories and the
rapidly expanding biotechnology industry by the DNA helix at the bottom. The
traditional “Bengaluru" is indicated by the Kempegowda Towers, which is also the
official emblem of the city in the front of the logo. The famed greenery and
foliage of the city also find a place in the logo.
